RNLI 200th Anniversary

As someone who’s spent many hours sailing all around the coast of Wales (and Cornwall, the Bristol Channel and southern Ireland too!), I’m always in awe of the dedication and professionalism of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution crews. (And yes, the RNLI DOES cover Ireland – it was one of the few instutitions who carried on unchanged even when Ireland became an independent country). Great to see therefore that there are two events celebrating this wonderful institution. The National Waterfront Museum in Swansea have an exhibition until March 2025, and Oriel y Parc – based in the wonderful “city” of St Davids (the smallest city in the UK!!) – is also hosting an exhibition. Partly no doubt to recognise the service they supply to Pembrokeshire, as the RNLI provides no less than 6 lifeboat stations and 13 lifeguarded beaches for this county alone. Da iawn bois!
